The eastern front was formed when the Germans launched operation Barbarossa. When this happened the largest invasion force in history happened, more than 3,000,000 Axis soldiers crossed the Russian border doing so the Eastern front was formed. The attacked in three groups army group north,army group centre, and army group south. this was a massive Blitzkrieg. Every 80 seconds a Russian aircraft was destroyed.
